A DAY OF MINDFULNESS

Enjoy a Day of Peace and Practice – Sundays

Join the monastics of Mountain Spring for a relaxing and rejuvenating Day of  Mindfulness - a day in which we come back home to ourselves, relax, and cultivate the energy of mindfulness together as a community.

Each Sunday is different - typically we begin at 9:00am with a Meditation Class, followed by Walking Meditation, Dharma Talk or Precept Recitation, a vegetarian Mindful Lunch, and an Afternoon Activity (e.g. Total Relaxation & Touching the Earth, Dharma Discussion, Sitting Meditation, Tea Mediation, Chanting Class). The day concluding at approx. 3:30pm.

The 1st Sunday of the month we will recite the Five Mindfulness Trainings, the 3rd Sunday of the Month we will recite the 14 Mindfulness Trainings.

Give Us The Gift of Your Presence

All in person days of mindfulness and events have limited capacity and preregistration through our online system is required. We will do our best to create opportunities for everyone to come. Please check back regularly for updated events. Join our mailing list to be the first to be notified of

Five Mindfulness Trainings Transmission Ceremony

Sunday February 5th

The Five Mindfulness Trainings remind us of our deep aspiration to live each day with a calm mind and an open heart. They provide invaluable guidelines for mindful living. The Buddha’s precepts encouraged his lay followers to abstain from five actions that create suffering: killing, stealing, engaging in sex with inappropriate partners, lying, and using alcohol and other intoxicants. In the Plum Village tradition, we study and recite the precepts as the Five Mindfulness Trainings, a reformulation for our time by Thich Nhat Hanh. The trainings are guardrails on the path of mindfulness that preserve and encourage our kindhearted practice. Our commitment to the trainings enters us most deeply when we receive them formally, in a Five Mindfulness Trainings transmission ceremony. This transmission publicly joins us with the tradition of mindfulness practice passed from teacher to student in an unbroken line from the Buddha, through many Indian, Chinese and Vietnamese teachers, through Thich Nhat Hanh, to us.

If you'd like to apply to receive any of the Trainings you will need to be present at Mountain Spring on Sunday February 5th for the transmission ceremony and register for the day on the calendar of events and then proceed to fill out the online application at the link listed here - (https://forms.gle/yn3gUG4MA4urKE5CA)
