Special notes about the course:

Dear friends, each winter we have a special opportunity to dive deeper into foundational teachings and practices. This winter retreat, Thầy Pháp Hải will be offering an eight week course on the first module of the Basic Texts of the Plum Village Tradition. In this interactive, creative course using the Metta Sutta (Discourse on Love) as a foundation we will be exploring some of the deeper layers in sacred texts as well as discovering some of the foundational patterns in Buddhist texts. Through the Dharma Contemplation method, which is a powerful way of engaging with sacred texts, we will explore the intersection between the fundamental meaning of the text as well as discovering the deeper layers of our own personal interpretations all of which will contribute to a deep and embodied relationship with the sacred texts. At the conclusion of this course you will have tools to be able to integrate any sutra or text and understand the original intent. Additionally, you will have developed a contemplative method that will help you to experience texts as living, changing realities. The course will begin on Sunday July 5th at 3pm. Each weekly class will last for one hour. To participate in this course, please commit to attending each session in person at Mountain Spring, and as this is an interactive class, reflections, meditations and writing exercises will be a central part of this course.
